Bressanone & Surroundings
Attractions & Interesting Sights

Where the rivers Isarco and Rienza merge, in the heart of South Tyrol, lies the city of Bressanone, over 1000 years old, with its old town houses, arcades and bridges. With its churches, the cathedral, the cloister with its unique Gothic frescoes and the former Episcopal Residence.

Bressanone has a big heart for its guests and citizens. There is always something going on, entertainment and culture abound. The city of Bressanone has grown considerably throughout history, however, it has lost none of its original charm. A Mediterranean climate, mild temperatures, time to dream – this pleasant ambiance continues beyond the borders of the city. The sunny, yet protected valley basin is surrounded by idyllic mountain villages, for example S. Andrea, the main village on the local mountain of Bressanone – Mount Plose. Unlimited walking and hiking opportunities in every season, always with the famous panoramic view from the nearby Dolomites to Mount Ortles. Just leave the worries of everyday life behind. In the beautiful natural landscape around Bressanone you have plenty of opportunity to do so.

North of Bressanone, you’ll find the Augustinian Monastery of Novacella, the largest monastery in South Tyrol with the magnificent collegiate church and the rich library from the late Baroque period. South of Bressanone lies the historic town of Chiusa with its narrow streets and quaint taverns. High above the town of Chiusa, there is the impressive Monastery Sabiona, the first bishopric in Tyrol.

The charming spa town of Merano always offers an exciting destination. Under the protection of the mighty Tessa Group even palm trees grow! An experience of a very special kind are the beautiful gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle.

Of course, you may also indulge in winter sports in South Tyrol, as well as in Bressanone and its surroundings: Enjoy snow magic on the local mountain of Bressanone, Plose - St. Andrea, on Plan de Corones - Brunico, in Val Gardena and on the Alpe di Siusi - Castelrotto, with challenging slopes, fantastic cross-country tracks, great tobogganing and snowshoeing experiences.

Unlimited sports activities for all ages and in every season: swimming, horseback riding, biking, paragliding - for all sports, the surroundings of Bressanone offer ideal conditions.

A family holiday, horse riding vacation, hiking holiday, skiing vacation, on the farms around Bressanone, S. Andrea, Meluno and Cleran everyone will find the ideal holiday conditions for the most beautiful time of the year.
